The University of Arizona

SBS Convocation for Masters & PhD Graduates

We invite you to the annual Graduate Convocation on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Centennial Hall, 1020 E University Blvd.

Eligibility to Walk in the SBS Convocation for Master's and PhD Graduates

You are eligible to participate based upon the following criteria, agreed upon to by heads, directors, and deans in the college:

Any College of SBS Master's (including MFA) or PhD student who *has completed* their degree in Summer 2022 through Spring 2023, and any SBS Master's or PhD student who *anticipates completing* their degree in Summer 2023 or Fall 2023 can participate in this celebration of their achievement.

You are not eligible to participate if you have already walked in a previous SBS Convocation for Master's and PhD Graduates.

This event is the only SBS-hosted graduate ceremony.

RSVP and Inviting your Faculty Mentor

SBS graduate students intending to participate *MUST* respond via the online RSVP site no later than Monday, April 24th by 5pm to be guaranteed a spot at the ceremony and *six* guest tickets. After we assess the number of graduates and ticket requests, we may issue more guest tickets. Participating graduates do not need a ticket to enter.

When submitting the RSVP, graduate students will be asked to list the faculty member to invite to the ceremony and conduct the hooding. Usually, this person is the major advisor for the creative work, thesis, or dissertation. In advance of the RSVP, the student should check that the mentor is available to participate. The student may invite one substitute faculty member if the advisor is unavailable.

You must RSVP by Monday, April 24th or you may not be allowed to participate. We will try to accommodate late RSVPs in terms of getting to walk, but it may not be feasible. Late RSVPs complicate all aspects of the event, including stage set-up, seating for guests, etc. We urge you to RSVP on time!

Once you submit your RSVP, you will be sent a confirmation email. If you do not receive it, please contact sbs-convocation@arizona.edu.

SBS departments have separate celebrations and the university also hosts the campus-wide graduation ceremony. These celebrations have different deadlines and RSVP processes. Visit the UA Commencement website.
